About me

Hi everyone! I am Jenny from Sweden. I live in the Swedish city Gothenburg although born and raised in the smaller town Kalmar. After I graduated from high school I went to Australia for a year to work as a nanny. This is where my independent travel interest started. It has since just grown and grown although the way I travel and the things I value on my trips have changed with the years. From staying in cheap bungalows with holes in the wall (allowing for spiders and other insects to enter freely) I nowadays allow myself a bit more comfort and occasionally even add some splurging days. I guess I have become a “flash packer” 😉

Every day in my life is filled with traveling. I am constantly dreaming about trips I want to do in the future or thinking about past trips and using the knowledge and experience gained from those, and from all the lovely encounters along the way…

Green= lived, Pink=roundtrip, Blue=shorter trip

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Cape Verde, Cambodia, China, Costa- Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, Gambia, France, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong- Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, South-Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania (Zanzibar), Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates (Dubai), United States, Vietnam, Zimbabwe

It is just this, the world, that keeps me going.  If you are planning a trip to any of above destinations, feel free to ask me for tips 🙂

  2. Åh så roligt att du startar en blogg.
Skall verkligen följa den under din nästa resa, eftersom jag själv är MYCKET sugen på alla de länder ni/ du skall besöka. Keep up the good work!

Ha det gott / Travelfun (RG)

    • Kul att du vill följa min blogg, kommer även blogga om gamla resor och reseplanering så det är bara att “haka på” 😉

  3. Looking forward to follow you here!

  4. Så spännande, jag vill gärna följa er stora resa här …

  5. Wonderful site Jenny. Thank you for sharing your adventures.

  6. Hi Jenny. I feel truly honoured that you have linked to Dave’s Photo Musings as a blog that inspires you. Thank you for your interest in my humble attempt at blogging. I suspect that you don’t really need much inspiration. I’m afraid that the number of countries that my wife and I have visited falls far short of your list. I do, however, have a few more trips to discuss yet so I hope I can retain your interest.

I will certainly be looking at all your posts to glean information for future trips, even though at our age, we may need to keep the level of excitement down a bit.

  7. Thank you! Africa is an unexplored continent for me and you have wonderful pictures from there that are very inspiring. You are a really great photographer Dave 🙂 And one can never get too much inspiration.

  8. Hi. Thank you for stopping by my blog.
Since I’m also interested in a trip, this blog inspires me very much.
I’m glad that you have already traveled Japan.
If I have enough time, I want to try CouchSurfing. It looks very awesome but Japanese seldom use it.
    Have a good day.

    • Arigato gozaimasu! In fact my trip to Japan two years ago is one of the most memorable journeys I have made. Everything is so different in a very pleasant way. People are friendly, food wonderful and nature beautiful. I loved the onsen culture in Japan and visited many different once. I will write about my trip to Japan later on in this blog 🙂

  9. An impressive list of countires visited! I’m mildly jealous… 😀
Thanks for ‘liking’ my post on http://www.adventure-mum.com
    XXX
    Keep in touch!

  10. With time I have managed to accumulate a few countries, and I hope to add some more in the future 😉

  11. Hi Jenny
    Thanks for reading my blog.

We’re similar in traveling pattern. When I was younger, I seldom pre-booked my hostels in advance when I was backpacking in Europe thrice…most of the time was impromptu as I wasn’t sure how long I’d stay at each place. I only have an outline of my trip which usually last 5-6 weeks. Now, I booked ALL of my hotels in advance, to avoid hassle once on the road.

I note u have visited Singapore! and some parts of Asia.

    • You have a great and comprehensive guide to Japan and I would definitely like to read more 🙂 Japan is such a wonderful country full of mystery.

  12. Very nice site! I look forward to reading more from you. And I was glad to see that we share a few things in common: (a) we both live in Sweden (although I am Canadian and now live in Stockholm), and (b) at least 29 countries that we both visited…. I did note however the absence of Canada on your list 😉

    Happy travels!

  13. Thank you 🙂 I have just been checking your blog out, very original and fun. And yes, you are right. Canada is still an unexplored country for me. But I would love to go one day!

    • Thanks for the nice comments about my blog. It started as some kind of a joke, an excuse really to force me to get out of my apartment early on weekends and go and meet Swedes. And let me know if you ever plan a trip to Canada. I’d be happy to share some tips 😉

  14. Hello Jenny – what a beautiful site you have here, loaded with photos from your many travels…incredible, actually.

I saw that you stopped-by my blog…thank you for letting me know that you were there…because now I know you’re here, too…and I shall be following. Thank you, Scott. 🙂

    • Thank you for those very kind words Scott. You´ve got a great blog too, lot´s of beautiful nature pictures, I will be back 😉

  15. You are very welcome, Jenny…and thank you for your very kind words, too! I will look forward to your visiting. 🙂

  16. Hi Jenny,

thank you for your interest in our little straw bale hotel.

We’ll keep checking on your blog.

    Happy New Year 2012!

    Louis

  17. Hi Jenny,

Am off to HK and Macau with my family at the end of the month. I do need your tips

  18. I really loved Hong Kong. Don´t miss daytours to the islands. I very much recommend Lamma Island, something to enjoy for the whole family. It is a popular weekend destination for Hong Kong residents. A trip to Lantau is also nice, to view the big Buddha. Have fun 😀

  19. Nice post on Costa Rica. We spent two weeks there and loved it.

  20. Your blog is so awesome! We are a bit similar in that we both have such a passion for the world and travel. I just wish I could do more of it. I look forward to your future posts 🙂

  21. Thank you Sarah 🙂

  22. Jenny, thank you for openly reaching out ad sharing your life through travel. Your blog is helping me realize that traveling is something that I want to pursue more vigorously. I smiled when I read that we are about the same age and that said something about fulfilling one’s dreams.
Days ago I returned from a trip to South America. I must admit that your photos reminded me of some market scenes I saw there first hand. I enjoy your writing and also the magnificent photo shots you aptly include in your blog posts. Happy travels in this new year. I hope I can meet up with you on a future trip!

  23. Thank you so much, your words made me very very happy and I couldn´t ask for a more “exotic” follower than someone from St Vincent and the Grenadines. When I googled photos from your home country it sure looks like paradise. I would like to follow your blog too, you are a very good writer with an interestig mix of subjects. And I hope I can keep on tempting you with my travel tales, which are indeed more pictures than words 😀

  24. It will indeed be a most esteemed honour to have you as a follower of my blog! I just had the thought that you might want to consider adding St Vincent and the Grenadines on your future travel calendar. You will have a chance to actually see sites used in filming Disney’s “Pirates of The Caribbean”

  25. Hi Jenny. Thanks for following my blog, and for all the extremely kind comments that you have made. I have a lot to learn about blogging and may never actually master it, but I am enjoying my time in the blogosphere.

    • As I mentioned in one of my comments to you on my Tikal post, I thought I was subscribing to your blog and noticed later I wasn´t so have some catching up to do! I love your pictures!

  26. Hi Jenny, after often reading and commenting on your blog, I want to write some nice words on the About:

  39. Hi Jenny,
Thanks for liking my post and following me. I must admit like others that you have some interesting and inspiring stories about your travels. I was showing my wife about your trip to Poland and now she wants me to plan a trip to East Europe.
I use blogs as my research for next holiday destination and I am glad that I can find a lot of stuff on your blog. 🙂
    Keep writing and keep inspiring.

    • Hello! Thank you for finding me 🙂 Just like you I use others travel blogs for inspiration and information for future travels. And it makes me so happy if I manage to inspire others with my blog. Let me know if you need more info for your future Poland trip 🙂

  40. Hi Jenny, awesome adventures! I see you have been to the Philippines, Im looking at your categories right now and Id like to see your article about our little corner of the world.Hmm — cant find it. Help!

    • Hi 🙂 When I started this blog last year in October I choose to blog from current to past…I was in the Philippines about 14 years ago. At that time I did not even have a digital camera so let´s see when I reach that priod 😉 But one thing I can say is that I probably would be disappointed if I went back to Boracay today. I saw it before it got too exploited. Would love to visit other places in the Philippines one day though. I remember it was extraordinary beautiful landscapes…and beaches…

  41. Awesome! A travelblog written by someone from my old hood (Göteborg)! Looking forward to read about your adventures:)

    • Thank you, and I have started following your wonderful blog 🙂 I took a look today, amazing food pictures from Dubai. Are you living there right now?

  48. Lovin’ the beach view and Island time. Wonderful blog with amazing places and people.

  49. Hej Jenny och Gott Nytt År!!

Hittade din blogg som du berättade om på Språkcaféet, väldigt roligt att läsa om alla dina reseäventyr! Jag undrar nästan över ifall du är hemma någon gång förutom de gånger då du övar nederländska med oss förstås 😉 Keep up the good work!!

  50. It’s great to find you on WordPress.com. My husband and I have Swedish ancestry. We visited Sweden in 2006 and had a fabulous time. It looks like you’ve been very busy with your travels. Look forward to reading more.

    • Thanks for wanting to follow me on my adventures 🙂 I see you live in Korea. How did you end up there?

      • Well we were tired of same old same old in Canada, so decided to go abroad to teach English. Korea had so many opportunities and it turned out that it was the best place for us. We love the people, the food and the land. We tried Spain as well, but while we were there we couldn’t stop thinking about Korea!

  51. Just found your blog, looking forward to following you and your adventures!

  52. Hi Jenny,

I love your Japan photos. Where did you stay in Beppu exactly?

    Thanks!

    • Hi and thank you 🙂 In Beppu I stayed in the area Kannawa. In my post from Beppu you find a link to Happy Neko which is the place I stayed. It was fantastic! Like having your own apartment.

  53. Nice comments and well travelled

  54. I love your breakfast posts 😀 I am flattered you choose to include the Swedish alternatives! Keep up the good work!
